How To Register 
Your Horse Through IQHS
Registering your Quarter Horse with the AmQHA can seem a daunting task - but not with us! Just follow this straight-forward checklist to register your horse:

  • Print off, fill in and sign the AmQHA membership form (24K PDF) if you're not already a member. This form should be posted to us along with your membership fee in Australian dollars (see further below), not to the Amarillo Texas address shown on the form.
     
  • Provide a photocopy of your Australian registration papers showing you (or your business) as the owner of the horse.
     
  • If there are Stud Book Registered Thoroughbreds in the pedigree of the horse being registered, you should also provide documentation showing the Stud Book registration of the horse.
       
  • Complete the American Quarter Horse Registration application form (2.8Mb PDF).

    There are 11 sections on this form that need to be completed. You should complete each section of the form as follows:
     
    1. Tick the box that says: "This foal was born south of the Equator". If you require DNA parentage verification, tick that box as well.
         
    2. Write the name of the horse that appears on the Australian registration papers in the 1st choice box. Do not provide any other names.
       
    3. Tick the colour that appears on the Australian registration papers.
       
    4. Tick the correct sex of the horse.
       
    5. Enter the date of birth and the City and State. Enter the Sire's name and owner at time of breeding, also the Dam's name and owner at time of breeding.
       
    6. Sign the application and include your phone number and email address.
       
    7. Ignore this section.
       
    8. Ignore this section.
       
    9. Ignore Bank of America Quarter Horse Racing Challenge. Tick if sire of the foal is nominated to the AQHA Incentive Fund and you wish to enrol your foal, tick the appropriate age of foal and fill in your name and AQHA membership number if you have one, leave the rest blank.
       
    10. Ignore AQHA membership fees (you already filled out the membership form), and ignore the Registration Fees.
       
    11. Tick 'Horse has no markings' or 'Horse has dorsal stripe'. as appropriate. The written description at the bottom can be copied from the Australian papers. Then either draw in the markings on the horse or provide 5 photos (either in print form or on CD). Photos are to be one of the off side, one of the near side, one of the front, one of the rear, and one three quarter from the front near side. Please ensure all photos are clearly marked as to which horse they are of.
       
  • Print out and fill in the Incentive Fund Application if you are registering your foal in the Incentive Fund Points Award program.
     
  • Post the Registration Application and Incentive Fund Application to International Quarter Horse Services Pty Ltd at 304 Kelly Road, Gracemere QLD 4702 along with the relevant fees.

As at 1st June 2008, fees are as follows:

  • AmQHA Membership for 1 year - $40.00
  • AmQHA Membership for 3 years - $81.00
  • Registration to 7 months od including DNA - $90.00
  • Registration of AusQHA registered horse - $49.00
  • Transfer of ownership - $18.00
  • Breeding return per mare - $4.00
